Description

General Summary:
 

Assists facilities department with general buildings and grounds maintenance that includes snow removal, mowing and weed control. Load and unload materials including plant supplies, tools and equipment. Ensures that materials are properly received, moved, stocked, accounted for and protected. Communicates with appropriate departments to indicate that delivery has arrived. Delivers equipment to job sites throughout locations within the Golden West service territory.

 

Essential Job Functions:
 

  • Assists with general buildings and grounds maintenance.
  • Maintains grounds through mowing, weed control, and disposing of trash.
  • Clears walkways to ensure safe passage.
  • Clears parking and driveways utilizing heavy equipment.
  • Receives incoming stock, places inventory into warehouse, delivers stock to appropriate departments, and performs other stockroom maintenance duties.
  • Loads supplies, tools and equipment to be dispatched for scheduled installation and repairs.
  • Deliver equipment and materials to locations throughout the service territory by driving a company provided vehicle with a trailer attached.
  • Ensures materials are properly received, moved, stocked, accounted for and protected.
  • Attend and participate in job safety and other training programs.
  • Some custodial duties may be included.

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
 

  • Knowledge of general building and grounds repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Skills in operating various hand and power tools.
  • Handling of MSDS materials and storage.
  • Skills in operating various grounds and maintenance equipment including mower, weed eater, snow blower, forklift tractor, skid-steer loader, boom truck, truck and trailer.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.
  • Ability to understand and verify requisitions, packing slips, and other records.
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a valid SD Department of Transportation Commercial Driver's License and be insurable under Golden West's automobile insurance policy guidelines.

 

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, plus one to two years of specialized training in electrical and/or plumbing. Previous facilities maintenance experience preferred.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid SD driver’s license, have an excellent driving record, and be insurable under the company’s insurance policy. CDL required.
