General Summary:
The Business Technology Advisor engages with the Company's Managed IT Service customers to advise them on the strategic use of technology within their business. This position is responsible for building partnerships with existing customers by using a standards-based best practices IT framework to propose business IT solutions that address the customer's business needs. The Business Technology Advisor plays a key outside sales role, serving as the lead consultant for each prospective client by driving the sales process from initial outreach through discovery, solution development, and closing.
Essential Job Functions:
- Consult and guide customers on strategic IT goals, plan the IT budget, analyze key business workflows, conduct baseline reviews with GAP assessment, and facilitate technology changes.
- Create a strategic IT roadmap that aligns with customer business goals.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with customers by building rapport, credibility, and trust with key stakeholders to achieve a high retention of business.
- Conducted Technology Strategy Review (TSR) meetings, technical prep meetings and developing action items to deliver solutions to customers.
- Answer questions related to customers' contractual agreements.
- Provide status checks on action items and other service orders for customers.
- Assist in the sales process for qualified Technology Leadership prospects.
- Achieve and maintain a positive rapport and credibility with clients to achieve a high rate of business retention.
- Engage appropriate technicians to identify potential projects to reduce the frequency of client issues.
- Collaborate closely with technical peers to translate technical standards alignment results into a business-focused output, demonstrating the risks and opportunities for each technology choice.
- Assist in reviewing and approving standards within the Standards Committee and contribute and execute ideas for process improvements.
- Identify and implement process improvements for the Technology Leadership program to create better outcomes for clients.
- Collaborate closely with technical peers to translate technical standards alignment results into a business-focused output, demonstrating the risks and opportunities for each technology choice.
- Ensure business goals are mutually understood for any IT project undertaken.
- Collaborate with other teams to align the IT standards with the customer's business.
- Advise executive stakeholders on innovations and trends in the industry, along with strategic opportunities.
- Facilitate meetings and strategic planning sessions with customers.
- Aid in developing resources and practices that promote and enhance customer engagement.
- Facilitate technology assessments to establish a basis for a technology gap analysis and communicate results to key stakeholders in an easily understandable and actionable way.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Possess and maintain in-depth knowledge of IT alignment standards.
- Maintain in-depth product knowledge of Golden West Technologies' service offerings and a keen understanding of IT best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of key business technology metrics, including Business Impact Analysis, Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and Return on Investment (ROI).
- Ability to communicate complex IT concepts to non-technical buyers.
- Ability to manage high-level project planning, including goal clarification and budgeting, and manage multiple timelines.
- Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies.
- Knowledge of backup solutions and rotation techniques.
- Customer-focused interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to effectively communicate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
- Ability to author reports.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent IT/Technology work experience preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in the IT/technology field. A minimum of two years of sales and/or customer service experience is preferred.
- Experience and/or familiarity with the latest IT/technology products and services required.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid South Dakota driver's license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the Company's insurance policy.
