General Summary:

The IT Technician I is responsible for all aspects of end-user support, including laptops, peripherals, applications, and connectivity. They create and manage user accounts in Active Directory and Office 365. The IT Technician will participate in the imaging, deploying, and troubleshooting employee laptops, phones, and other IT-supported devices.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical support for laptops, applications, and peripherals.
  • Image and deploy laptops for new employees and lifecycle purposes.
  • Create new user accounts and participate in the onboarding process.
  • Train staff in the use of new software or hardware.
  • Create technical how-to documentation for both IT staff and end users.
  • Some day and occasional overnight travel is required.
  • Participate in after-hours and on-call support on a rotational basis.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by Management.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate level of knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows server operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Office 365.
  • Ability to troubleshoot end-user hardware and software.
  • Basic knowledge of networking, including wired and wireless technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of virus and spyware removal techniques.
  • Ability to image, set up, operate, and maintain PC systems.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate MS Office productivity applications and office equipment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and customers professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to learn new skills and technologies to accomplish the Company's goals.
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
  • Must be organized with attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a rapidly changing technical environment.
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player and to project a positive attitude. Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree in information technology, computer science, or computer engineering or 2 years of experience in the IT or computer science fields.
  • Must have direct experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems and Office applications.


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a core IT certification within 1 year. Certification status is expected to be maintained.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid South Dakota driver's license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the Company's insurance policy.

Working Conditions:

Good working conditions with the absence of disagreeable conditions. Climate controlled building with adequate lighting and space. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
