**Temporary (1000 hrs) - Up to 28 hrs per week

General Summary:


Assists the Plant Engineering team in the preparation of plans and specifications, contracts, amendments and final documents for outside plant projects. Manages and maintains construction records, construction invoices, materials used, etc. Prepares correspondence, helps track projects and provides necessary follow-up. Sets up and manages the filing and paperwork involved in projects.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the Plant Engineering Manager in the coordination of outside plant projects.
  • Build and manage project files for outside plant projects. Maintain construction records such as As-Staked, As-Built, Work Orders, cutover sheets, easements, project notes, contractor invoices and other project documentation as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation, printing, binding, and other functions as required in the preparation of:
    • Plans and Specifications
    • Contracts and Contract Amendments
    • Final Documents
    • Reports
    • RUS forms and documentation
    • General Correspondence
  • Create, distribute, and track correspondence emanating from the Plant Engineering Department. This will involve corresponding with contractors, suppliers, consultants, Federal, State, and local government agencies, and internal personnel.
  • Assist and provide the Plant Engineering Dept. team with administrative services as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Plant Engineering Manager.

Other Responsibilities:

Perform all other related duties as assigned by Management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills using Windows, Excel, Word and Visio.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as copiers, fax and printers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, particularly in correspondence utilizing mailing services and e-mail.
  • Must demonstrate positive attitude and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry and services.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Good organizational and filing skills that will aid in the closeout of completed projects within specified timelines and keeping projects current.
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work within a team structure, and also independently without continual supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to make independent decisions.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of two years’ experience working in an office environment. Engineering or construction knowledge a plus.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid South Dakota driver’s license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the Company’s policy carrier.

Working Conditions:
Good working conditions with the absence of disagreeable conditions. Climate controlled building with adequate lighting and space. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
