General Summary:

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment, and environmental systems in multiple facilities. This role serves as a working supervisor, directly involved in the day-to-day operations, actively working alongside the facilities team members to accomplish tasks and achieve goals. This position provides direction, guidance, and delegates tasks to the facilities staff. The Facilities Supervisor plans maintenance activities, coordinates repairs for Company-owned buildings, and develops an annual work plan and budget. Maintains accurate records and history of building maintenance and repairs. Determines needs and requests bids from local contractors for major jobs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Actively engages in day-to-day facilities operations, working collaboratively with team members to complete tasks.
  • Provides work direction and supervision to assigned staff by delegating work, creating schedules, answering questions, monitoring work quality, handling personnel matters, and monitoring work to ensure timely and accurate completion of facility request activities.
  • Ensures all assigned Facility Technicians are trained to follow Company standards and safety procedures for the maintenance of Company facilities including relevant technical specifications and corresponding process and procedures.
  • Ensures all assigned Facility Technicians are completing their work in a timely fashion and to the quality standards set forth by the Company.
  • Maintains mechanical equipment and structures including environmental systems.
  • Maintains buildings by completing audits, and site inspections; inspecting and repairing plumbing, electrical, building fixtures, and woodwork as needed.
  • Ensures proper upkeep of grounds by coordinating and performing necessary repairs, including yards and fences.
  • Utilizes hand and power tools, and ladders for internal and external building construction, including outbuildings and storage sheds as required.
  • Develops an annual work plan and budget for effective planning and resource allocation.
  • Manages the maintenance, and repair of company fleet vehicles.
  • Conducts analysis of work or construction projects to gather information for bid letting.
  • Provides oversight, supervision, and inspection of construction projects.
  • Maintains comprehensive records and documentation of facility maintenance and repair activities.
  • Manages Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and submits timely submission of Tier II reporting.
  • Collaborates with vendors to maintain and update fire extinguishers, defibrillators, first aid cabinets, and other safety equipment.
  • Collaborates closely with the Engineering Manager and department personnel.
  • Involves extensive travel to company properties, facilities, and grounds.
  • Must live in Golden West exchange.
     

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by Management.
  • Pre-employment physical required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of general building and grounds repair and maintenance.
  • Possesses working knowledge of general construction, engineering, contracting, and coordination with service personnel and vendors.
  • Knowledge and ability to lead construction projects involving facilities and grounds.
  • Knowledge of company products and warehouse coordination and distribution practices.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Advanced skills in operating various grounds and maintenance equipment including generators, mowers, weed eaters, snow blowers, forklift tractors, skid-steer loaders, trucks, and trailers.
  • Effectively communicates with colleagues and business contacts professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments and provide direction to technicians.
  • Proficient in operating various hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of handling SDS materials and storage.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with efficiency.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using the information at hand.
  • Ability to understand and verify requisitions, packing slips, and other records.
  • Ability to effectively function as a team player.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree in construction, maintenance, business, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of facilities maintenance experience with 2 or more years leading facilities maintenance staff or major facility projects.


Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid SD driver’s license, have an excellent driving record, and be insurable under the company’s insurance policy. CDL required.
  • 16 hours of continuing education in qualified Leadership training required per year.
