General Summary:

 

Works within the engineering department to implement a design and build process, involving all aspects of the outside plant at Golden West. Involves working with contractors, vendors, intra-company personnel, and customers. This position requires excellent computer skills, with the knowledge and ability to operate GPS equipment and/or GPS based applications. Travel to project areas and job sites is required.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

• Inspection of work orders and OSP construction, as well as verifies adherence to Golden West’s plans and specifications.

   

• Assists in maintaining accurate and up-to-date facility maps using GPS technology.

   

• Inspects work activities to ensure conformance with company policy and safety standards.

   

• Participates in intra-departmental planning.

 

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

• Perform all other related duties as assigned by Management.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and forms including work orders, staking sheets, schematics and specification manuals.

• Ability to pay close attention to details.

• Ability to operate office equipment, such as personal computer, various software programs and GPS equipment and/or applications.

• Knowledge of Company products and services.

• Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.

• Ability to work independently.

• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

• Experience using GPS equipment and/or applications required.

 

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

 

• Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid South Dakota driver’s license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the Company’s policy carrier.

Working Conditions:

Must take into consideration the presence and relative amount of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, wetness, etc. Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to the continuous exposure to one or more of the elements listed above. May be exposed to one element continuously or several elements occasionally, but usually not at the same time.
