General Summary:

The Remote IT Technician team’s primary focus is providing support for school districts and counties.

Primary scope of work for the Remote IT Technician is Windows workstation/laptop deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance from guidelines and instructions. Troubleshoot and support printer and misc. peripheral computer equipment used by customer base.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides assistance to a large customer base via onsite and remote methods.
  • Troubleshoots PC's and related hardware and software.
  • Deploys, troubleshoots and maintains Windows workstations.
  • Performs system hardware and communication connection diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Assist other IT technicians and engineers in troubleshooting IT infrastructure such as Ruckus Wireless, WDS, WSUS, Hyper-V, and other technologies specific to customers’ needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Occasional on-call.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by Management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of PCs and printers required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Ability to maintain an accurate inventory list of computers and whom they are assigned to.
  • Knowledge of basic network diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques required.
  • Knowledge of internet browsers IE, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Microsoft Office, and other types of application software.
  • Must be able to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written formats with co-workers and business associates in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player.
  • Skilled in diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and external influences.
  • Manages competing demands, changes approach or method to best fit the situation.

Education and/or Experience:

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related fields; or a minimum of two year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

A+ or equivalent certification preferred.

Microsoft certification preferred.

Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid South Dakota driver’s license, have an excellent driving record and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy.

Working Conditions:

Good working conditions with the absence of disagreeable conditions. Mostly Climate controlled building(s) with adequate lighting and space. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
